Turning 50 should be fun?

Made this flower bouquet with suckers for a dear friend who turned 50 this month.
She had a great sense of humor about the whole "50" thing. I had seen the original idea on pinterest for a 30th birthday and figured I could make it work with 50 suckers instead. I just used flowers I had purchased at the dollar store to cover some of the suckers and nestabilities to cut the circles. Easy peasy, but lots of fun!!

It's great to see some

blue sky today!! We got hit with yet another winter storm this week and YES I know we live in Nova Scotia but that doesn't mean I have to like all this snow. We live in a split entry home and my studio is in the basement. This is the view from my windows.

The view from our back deck is similar. We did have a path shoveled in the middle of the deck to get to the bird feeder. Hmmm... needless to say we have some shovelling to do again as the feeder is almost empty.
I love the little tracks in the snow!! We did get together Monday night for class and made a 2011 calendar. There are numerous sites on the web showing the how to's for this project.

Sorry, but I don't have the paper names. My stem is just a bit too far to the right, in class everyone moved the stem a bit closer to the left border and it balanced it out nicely. We used Spellbinders Labels 15 and I have to add how much I love the shape of this set. We also used MS Doily Lace Trim. Stamps are Fancy Pants Delight.
Have a great weekend!!!

OK.. you're not allowed to faint

because I am finally posting!!!!! I'm not sure why I haven't posted in such a long time as I have been teaching weekly, so it's not that I don't have cards to share. No promises, but I will try to update on a more regular basis.

Started classes last night for the new year and we kicked it off with Valentines. I saw a card on Wendy Weixler's blog and cased it for our class.
We used the dotted CB folder, My Mind's Eye pp, Dreams come true (SU) and $1 stamps from M's. I was getting rather stressed last spring with the classes, working full time and trying to come up with new ideas so I changed the format of the classes. Now the girls make 4 of the same card, which means I only need to come up with 1 idea. Much lower stress for me and they get 3 cards to give away and 1 to add to their growing collection. Have a happy Tuesday.....

Happy Halloween...

The ghosts and goblins were out this evening in our neighborhood. We got our usual 12 children. Oh dear...what to do with the leftovers..
This is my godson Dawson. He really wasn't feeling all that well tonight. That is his big brother Corey in the window..he looks just like his dad!!!

I started teaching classes at the house again and we did a couple of Halloween projects. I just love these little spiders and made enough to go on the treat bags for tonight. If your interested in attending, they are Monday evenings @ a cost of $5.00 per class. I'll try to post last weeks class later this week.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and go Phillies go!!!!

P.S. Don't forget to change your clocks tonight before you go to bed.

I've had a fairly productive Sunday

despite feeling like crap. There has been so much flu and colds going around work that I was bound to catch something. I just wish it hadn't happened on my weekend off!!!! So, I had 2 choices..first one was to curl up in a ball and feel sorry for myself and the second was to try to get some cards made. Obviously, I choose the second door!! I found a couple of challenges this afternoon and decided to play along... The first in one by Basic Grey and the only rules were rounded corners and some Basic Grey. Works for me!!! I used my new labels nestibilities and a Prima stamp set. The pp is from Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper pad. I thought this stamp set was so cute I made a second card with it. I used my cuttlebug and sewing machine with this one. This next one is my take on Mojo Monday For this card I used a Making Memories paper pad (Poolside and Greenhouse) It has very yummy papers in it!! And last but not least is a card from a fairly new blog 365 Cards They had a sketch posted so i thought I'd give it a whirl. I used more Basic Grey pp for this one and one of the sizzlets diecuts for the buttons. Well, I think it's to curl up with a blanket for a bit..take care and stay healthy!!!!!

I finally got my card made for

this weeks Mojo Monday.
. I used Daisy Bucket Garden Gate PP, and my trusty cuttlebug. I also used stamps from All Night Media and Hero Arts. I accented the card with Fruit Punch Stickles and ribbon from my stash.

I also got a couple of more cards made..

Ohhh...I am so in love with my Cuttlebug. These cards only took about 15 minutes each to make!! As much as I would love to say these are my original ideas, I'm sure they stem from a sketch, a card, a magazine, or something I've seen in my day that has inspired me in some way.

Hope your having a great weekend and for those of you who get to change your clock tonight, enjoy that extra hour of daylight starting tomorrow night!!! It just one more way of Spring telling us it's on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!

I started this first card

earlier in the week and for the life of me I can't find the blog with the sketch. So...in saying that..here is the card but with no link to the sketch. I'm hoping someone will recognize the sketch and point me to the right blog.

This next one incorporates 2 challenges, one is a Sketch and the other is Monochromatic Card I don't usually make monochromatic cards but I really enjoyed making this one. I love the sketch that was posted and found it very inspirational.

These 2 are just for fun cards as I have some birthdays coming up for my godchildren and thought they were fun. My friend Shirley dropped off a Stampin' Up catalog for me to look at and if you go to page 40 you will see my inspiration for these cards.

And last but not least if my take on Mojo Monday As usual, the sketch is great and there are so many takes on it!! Needless to say, I've had a productive Sunday morning. It just doesn't get much better than this!!!!
Hope your having a great weekend!!

Here we go....

yet another snow storm. UGH!!! It's miserable out today!! The only good thing about the day is I have it off. I have been quite fortunate this winter and have only had to drive home a few times when it's been storming. Hopefully, this one will end soon and we can be another day closer to spring!!!!

I tried a sketch from Mercy's Blog. I love the simplicity of the layout and used as an opportunity to make a card that was geared more on the masculine side. The papers I used were from my stash and I really don't know who the makes it. I also used my cuttlebug and small star EK Success punch.

This one was made with the weekly Mojo Monday sketch. PP used is from Daisy Bucket, stamp are from Hero Arts. Okay...3rd time is trying time!!!!

Have a happy and safe day.....

Hmm..hard to believe it's Sunday already.

I've had a long weekend and as usual time flies when you're having fun. I spent Friday in Halifax with a friend. Her partner had open heart surgery a couple of weeks ago, so we went to visit him. Rainy had never been to a scrapbook store so I thought it was my responsility to introduce her to Carsand Mosher's and Michaels. I did tell her I was not responsible for any addictions that may occur due to our shopping venture. She went back to the city again yesterday to bring him home so needless to say that makes my heart happy.

I had time to try Mojo Monday As usual, the sketch is great and has generated a huge response. I've used Anne Griffin pp, Magenta stamp, and ribbon from my stash. I bought the Curved Rectangles on Friday and used them in both cards. The second one uses Rhonna Furrer Flower Stems clear stamp and Daisy Bucket pp.
I did this project a while ago and keep forgetting to post it. I have 3 godchildren, 1 lives just up the street and the other 2 live in Texas, so you can only imagine how excited I was to have all three of them to myself for a day.

The frame was a gift, and it seemed just perfect for a project like this.

The pages are very basic as I could not get many layers behind the glass. I used a line of stickers and chipboard from Rob&Bob. Here's hoping you all had a wonderful Valentines yesterday!
Oh..one final note...it's only 33 days until the first day of spring!!!!!!!!!!!

You know how you sometimes see

an idea and you think "I'm sure I can do that!!!." Well, a while back I posted about Birthday Organization. I fell in love with Nicole Heady's idea for a Birthday book and decided to try it. I finally used my Bind It All for binding the book and was very pleased with it. I choose a pink cardstock from Paper Reflections and pp from Paperbilities. I used my Fiskars waterfall punch for the edges of my envelopes. Instead of stamping the lining of the envelopes, I used my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dot folder. Did I mention I am in LOVE with my Cuttlebug. I kinda cheated with embellishing the front of the book as I had to strategically place things to cover up a glue spot or two!! I used the American Crafts thickers on the cover and if you can tell me how to put those darn things back in the bag without them falling of the backing I'd be most grateful.

It's nice to see the sun

even if it's still cccold out. Had a chance to do the weekly Mojo Monday again. As usual, the sketch is very inspirational. When I last looked at the site, there were close to 200 links to the sketch!!! WOW!! I again used the Basic Grey Urban Prairie line. I love these 6x6 paperpads that are available. They are perfect for card making!!. I also used my nestibilities, chipboard from my stash, Biggie brad and the seniment was computer generated. I'd love to see what you do with this sketch!!

I was blog surfing this morning and found This on The Cuttlebugspot Blog. She also has a couple more videos on her side bar with tutorials on various Cuttlebug ideas. I will place a link on my sidebar also as I see many more awesome ideas coming from this blog.
I love it when it's this easy to make a card!! The stamps are Michaels clear $ stamps. Ribbon from my stash, scallop circle nestibilities and the swiss dots folder. It really can't get much easier than this!!!

Winter and I are not friends!!!

It stormed here again last night and of course it was my night to work. It was a miserable drive home and now our road is a glare of ice!! I just want it to go away and be able to work out in my gardens again. The only good thing is it's only about 50 days until spring, but whose counting...ME!!!!! Okay, I'm done..thanks for listening!

I did get a card made for Mojo Monday. Again, I am blown away by the incredible ideas this blog has generated. Do yourself a favor and click on the links to see some of the many takes on these sketches. I used the Basic Grey Urban Prairie pp that I won from the PageMaps Card Contest in November. I used my latest obsession..The CUTTLEBUG !!! Oh, how I love that little machine and I cannot believe I waited soooo long to get one. The stamps are from Hero Arts and Michaels. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

I've had a lot of fun

with this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch. I made 3 different cards with the sketch.

I used a daisyd's 8x8 doublesided cardstock pack for the majority of the cards. I also used pp from My Mind's Eye". Stamps are from Stampin' Up, Hero Arts and Michael's. The charm on the heart card is from the $1 store. Wow, I just might get my card supply built up again at this rate!!! Have a happy Tuesday.

Wow.. It's Monday again!!!

As some of you know, I work in retail and our store recently started being open on Sundays. This was my weekend to work both Saturday and Sunday and I find there is no start and stop to the week and I have to think about what day it it. BUT....the good thing about it being Monday is.....Mojo Monday. I had a chance to look at many of the cards that were posted last week. Can you believe there were over 200 cards made with that same sketch? If you didn't take a look, you really should go into some of the blogs. Don't forget to post a message as everyone loves to know what others think. I made my card with more of the 12x12 Autumn Leaves Smitten paper pack. I love the spring feel of these papers and after yesterdays storm I could use some spring feel!!! I also used the Nestibilities Small Pinking Circles and the stamp is one of the $1.00 stamps from Michaels. Have a happy day...

Mojo Monday

is the talk of the blog world. Verve Stamps has started a new Mojo Monday Blog with a weekly sketch you can use. There are soooooooooooo many wonderful takes on this sketch. If you have time, click on some of them and take a peek and tell me your not impressed!!! I was so inspired today that I thought I would give the sketch a try.

I used paper downloaded from Stamp Happy With Sgt Stamper. As you can see I also gave my Cuttlebug a whirl today and I think I'm in LOVE!!!!I was thrilled with the results and was so inspired by some of the cards I saw today that I even decorated the inside of the card.

I always line the insides of my card but had never really thought about decorating it. Hmm...maybe I'll have to try this again. Again, if you have the time and want to be inspired, check out the Mojo Monday Blog.

And another year begins....

I truly hope you had a wonderful holiday and a safe and happy New Year. This was our first year for not having our oldest daughter at home with us over the holidays. I was not sure how I would make out, but Paul,Lyndsay and I had a great Christmas with lots of phone calls to and from Edmonton (Jocelyn and Michael spent Christmas with Michael's family there). As usual I did not make any New Year's resolutions as I have a hard enough time with life as it is without putting extra pressure on myself. Sounds like the perfect cop out, wouldn't you say, but it works well for me!!!

I finally got a Cuttlebug (I know, I'm a bit behind!!) and I am having a blast with it. Also, a personal printer that I know will come in handy for quick pictures when I need them.

I always like having a calendar in my studio(do you like that word Jocelyn?)so I used this 2009 Template to make one. I just used a variety of stamps to decorate it and a CD case for the stand. Very simple, but will serve the purpose.

I used Autumn Leaves Smitten paper for my background on the pages.

We were in Antigonish in early December for our youngest daughter's (Lyndsay's) X-ring celebration. We had a wonderful time there celebrating with her friends and their families.
This picture is of the group of kids Lyndasy graduated high school with. They have remained great friends and will be graduating university together in May. They are all wonderful and we love them!!

This next one is not so great of Paul and I, but you can certainly see the excitement in Lyndsay's face. It so hard to believe four years have almost passed. Needless to say, we are incredibly proud of her.

Oh and did I mention I entered a contest in November with Pagemaps December Newsletter. I am not sure if this link will work as it goes to a PDF file, but you can go to PageMaps and check it out from there.
I won a great prize package and got published in Becky's December newsletter. Can you guess just how excited I was to receive that email!!!!

Just one last thing, everyone is looking to get organized this time of the year and Nicole Heady has some wonderful ideas for organizing your birthdays on her website. Check it out, there might be something there that will work for you. Take care and again Happy New Year!!!
