Happy Halloween...

The ghosts and goblins were out this evening in our neighborhood. We got our usual 12 children. Oh dear...what to do with the leftovers..
This is my godson Dawson. He really wasn't feeling all that well tonight. That is his big brother Corey in the window..he looks just like his dad!!!

I started teaching classes at the house again and we did a couple of Halloween projects. I just love these little spiders and made enough to go on the treat bags for tonight. If your interested in attending, they are Monday evenings @ a cost of $5.00 per class. I'll try to post last weeks class later this week.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and go Phillies go!!!!

P.S. Don't forget to change your clocks tonight before you go to bed.

Happy World Cardmaking

day...sure hope you have a chance to participate...

Sunday, March 15, 2009

I've had a fairly productive Sunday

despite feeling like crap. There has been so much flu and colds going around work that I was bound to catch something. I just wish it hadn't happened on my weekend off!!!! So, I had 2 choices..first one was to curl up in a ball and feel sorry for myself and the second was to try to get some cards made. Obviously, I choose the second door!! I found a couple of challenges this afternoon and decided to play along... The first in one by Basic Grey and the only rules were rounded corners and some Basic Grey. Works for me!!! I used my new labels nestibilities and a Prima stamp set. The pp is from Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper pad. I thought this stamp set was so cute I made a second card with it. I used my cuttlebug and sewing machine with this one. This next one is my take on Mojo Monday For this card I used a Making Memories paper pad (Poolside and Greenhouse) It has very yummy papers in it!! And last but not least is a card from a fairly new blog 365 Cards They had a sketch posted so i thought I'd give it a whirl. I used more Basic Grey pp for this one and one of the sizzlets diecuts for the buttons. Well, I think it's to curl up with a blanket for a bit..take care and stay healthy!!!!!

I finally got my card made for

this weeks Mojo Monday.
. I used Daisy Bucket Garden Gate PP, and my trusty cuttlebug. I also used stamps from All Night Media and Hero Arts. I accented the card with Fruit Punch Stickles and ribbon from my stash.

I also got a couple of more cards made..

Ohhh...I am so in love with my Cuttlebug. These cards only took about 15 minutes each to make!! As much as I would love to say these are my original ideas, I'm sure they stem from a sketch, a card, a magazine, or something I've seen in my day that has inspired me in some way.

Hope your having a great weekend and for those of you who get to change your clock tonight, enjoy that extra hour of daylight starting tomorrow night!!! It just one more way of Spring telling us it's on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday, March 1, 2009

I started this first card

earlier in the week and for the life of me I can't find the blog with the sketch. So...in saying that..here is the card but with no link to the sketch. I'm hoping someone will recognize the sketch and point me to the right blog.

This next one incorporates 2 challenges, one is a Sketch and the other is Monochromatic Card I don't usually make monochromatic cards but I really enjoyed making this one. I love the sketch that was posted and found it very inspirational.

These 2 are just for fun cards as I have some birthdays coming up for my godchildren and thought they were fun. My friend Shirley dropped off a Stampin' Up catalog for me to look at and if you go to page 40 you will see my inspiration for these cards.

And last but not least if my take on Mojo Monday As usual, the sketch is great and there are so many takes on it!! Needless to say, I've had a productive Sunday morning. It just doesn't get much better than this!!!!
Hope your having a great weekend!!

Here we go....

yet another snow storm. UGH!!! It's miserable out today!! The only good thing about the day is I have it off. I have been quite fortunate this winter and have only had to drive home a few times when it's been storming. Hopefully, this one will end soon and we can be another day closer to spring!!!!

I tried a sketch from Mercy's Blog. I love the simplicity of the layout and used as an opportunity to make a card that was geared more on the masculine side. The papers I used were from my stash and I really don't know who the makes it. I also used my cuttlebug and small star EK Success punch.

This one was made with the weekly Mojo Monday sketch. PP used is from Daisy Bucket, stamp are from Hero Arts. Okay...3rd time is trying time!!!!

Have a happy and safe day.....

Sunday, February 15, 2009

Hmm..hard to believe it's Sunday already.

I've had a long weekend and as usual time flies when you're having fun. I spent Friday in Halifax with a friend. Her partner had open heart surgery a couple of weeks ago, so we went to visit him. Rainy had never been to a scrapbook store so I thought it was my responsility to introduce her to Carsand Mosher's and Michaels. I did tell her I was not responsible for any addictions that may occur due to our shopping venture. She went back to the city again yesterday to bring him home so needless to say that makes my heart happy.

I had time to try Mojo Monday As usual, the sketch is great and has generated a huge response. I've used Anne Griffin pp, Magenta stamp, and ribbon from my stash. I bought the Curved Rectangles on Friday and used them in both cards. The second one uses Rhonna Furrer Flower Stems clear stamp and Daisy Bucket pp.
I did this project a while ago and keep forgetting to post it. I have 3 godchildren, 1 lives just up the street and the other 2 live in Texas, so you can only imagine how excited I was to have all three of them to myself for a day.

The frame was a gift, and it seemed just perfect for a project like this.

The pages are very basic as I could not get many layers behind the glass. I used a line of stickers and chipboard from Rob&Bob. Here's hoping you all had a wonderful Valentines yesterday!
Oh..one final note...it's only 33 days until the first day of spring!!!!!!!!!!!

You know how you sometimes see

an idea and you think "I'm sure I can do that!!!." Well, a while back I posted about Birthday Organization. I fell in love with Nicole Heady's idea for a Birthday book and decided to try it. I finally used my Bind It All for binding the book and was very pleased with it. I choose a pink cardstock from Paper Reflections and pp from Paperbilities. I used my Fiskars waterfall punch for the edges of my envelopes. Instead of stamping the lining of the envelopes, I used my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dot folder. Did I mention I am in LOVE with my Cuttlebug. I kinda cheated with embellishing the front of the book as I had to strategically place things to cover up a glue spot or two!! I used the American Crafts thickers on the cover and if you can tell me how to put those darn things back in the bag without them falling of the backing I'd be most grateful.

It's nice to see the sun

even if it's still cccold out. Had a chance to do the weekly Mojo Monday again. As usual, the sketch is very inspirational. When I last looked at the site, there were close to 200 links to the sketch!!! WOW!! I again used the Basic Grey Urban Prairie line. I love these 6x6 paperpads that are available. They are perfect for card making!!. I also used my nestibilities, chipboard from my stash, Biggie brad and the seniment was computer generated. I'd love to see what you do with this sketch!!

I was blog surfing this morning and found This on The Cuttlebugspot Blog. She also has a couple more videos on her side bar with tutorials on various Cuttlebug ideas. I will place a link on my sidebar also as I see many more awesome ideas coming from this blog.
I love it when it's this easy to make a card!! The stamps are Michaels clear $ stamps. Ribbon from my stash, scallop circle nestibilities and the swiss dots folder. It really can't get much easier than this!!!

Winter and I are not friends!!!

It stormed here again last night and of course it was my night to work. It was a miserable drive home and now our road is a glare of ice!! I just want it to go away and be able to work out in my gardens again. The only good thing is it's only about 50 days until spring, but whose counting...ME!!!!! Okay, I'm done..thanks for listening!

I did get a card made for Mojo Monday. Again, I am blown away by the incredible ideas this blog has generated. Do yourself a favor and click on the links to see some of the many takes on these sketches. I used the Basic Grey Urban Prairie pp that I won from the PageMaps Card Contest in November. I used my latest obsession..The CUTTLEBUG !!! Oh, how I love that little machine and I cannot believe I waited soooo long to get one. The stamps are from Hero Arts and Michaels. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

I've had a lot of fun

with this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch. I made 3 different cards with the sketch.

I used a daisyd's 8x8 doublesided cardstock pack for the majority of the cards. I also used pp from My Mind's Eye". Stamps are from Stampin' Up, Hero Arts and Michael's. The charm on the heart card is from the $1 store. Wow, I just might get my card supply built up again at this rate!!! Have a happy Tuesday.

Monday, January 12, 2009

Wow.. It's Monday again!!!

As some of you know, I work in retail and our store recently started being open on Sundays. This was my weekend to work both Saturday and Sunday and I find there is no start and stop to the week and I have to think about what day it it. BUT....the good thing about it being Monday is.....Mojo Monday. I had a chance to look at many of the cards that were posted last week. Can you believe there were over 200 cards made with that same sketch? If you didn't take a look, you really should go into some of the blogs. Don't forget to post a message as everyone loves to know what others think. I made my card with more of the 12x12 Autumn Leaves Smitten paper pack. I love the spring feel of these papers and after yesterdays storm I could use some spring feel!!! I also used the Nestibilities Small Pinking Circles and the stamp is one of the $1.00 stamps from Michaels. Have a happy day...

Mojo Monday

is the talk of the blog world. Verve Stamps has started a new Mojo Monday Blog with a weekly sketch you can use. There are soooooooooooo many wonderful takes on this sketch. If you have time, click on some of them and take a peek and tell me your not impressed!!! I was so inspired today that I thought I would give the sketch a try.

I used paper downloaded from Stamp Happy With Sgt Stamper. As you can see I also gave my Cuttlebug a whirl today and I think I'm in LOVE!!!!I was thrilled with the results and was so inspired by some of the cards I saw today that I even decorated the inside of the card.

I always line the insides of my card but had never really thought about decorating it. Hmm...maybe I'll have to try this again. Again, if you have the time and want to be inspired, check out the Mojo Monday Blog.

And another year begins....

I truly hope you had a wonderful holiday and a safe and happy New Year. This was our first year for not having our oldest daughter at home with us over the holidays. I was not sure how I would make out, but Paul,Lyndsay and I had a great Christmas with lots of phone calls to and from Edmonton (Jocelyn and Michael spent Christmas with Michael's family there). As usual I did not make any New Year's resolutions as I have a hard enough time with life as it is without putting extra pressure on myself. Sounds like the perfect cop out, wouldn't you say, but it works well for me!!!

I finally got a Cuttlebug (I know, I'm a bit behind!!) and I am having a blast with it. Also, a personal printer that I know will come in handy for quick pictures when I need them.

I always like having a calendar in my studio(do you like that word Jocelyn?)so I used this 2009 Template to make one. I just used a variety of stamps to decorate it and a CD case for the stand. Very simple, but will serve the purpose.

I used Autumn Leaves Smitten paper for my background on the pages.

We were in Antigonish in early December for our youngest daughter's (Lyndsay's) X-ring celebration. We had a wonderful time there celebrating with her friends and their families.
This picture is of the group of kids Lyndasy graduated high school with. They have remained great friends and will be graduating university together in May. They are all wonderful and we love them!!

This next one is not so great of Paul and I, but you can certainly see the excitement in Lyndsay's face. It so hard to believe four years have almost passed. Needless to say, we are incredibly proud of her.

Oh and did I mention I entered a contest in November with Pagemaps December Newsletter. I am not sure if this link will work as it goes to a PDF file, but you can go to PageMaps and check it out from there.
I won a great prize package and got published in Becky's December newsletter. Can you guess just how excited I was to receive that email!!!!

Just one last thing, everyone is looking to get organized this time of the year and Nicole Heady has some wonderful ideas for organizing your birthdays on her website. Check it out, there might be something there that will work for you. Take care and again Happy New Year!!!

Wow..life has certainly been busy....

Our oldest daughter came home fron Calgary on Thanksgiving weekend to get married here in Nova Scotia. They were here with us for 3 weeks and it was amazing. Our youngest also came home from university to be a part of the wedding party. Paul and I are truly blessed with a wonderful family as we welcomed Michael and his family into ours. I have taken some heat because I have not posted pictures yet... here are a few I got from Jocelyn's facebook as I don't have a copy of them yet HINT..HINT..Jocelyn!!!!!! This is in our yard before the wedding.

Needless to say the one of Jocelyn walking down the aisle and the one of her kissing her dad tear me up!!

I will post a few more later as there is a crisis at work and I have to run.

Sometimes the generosity of people

really amazes me. Check out this blog Cammie's Blog and tell me this does not inspire you to do something to help.

I did create a card to send off but it got me thinking about the local nursing homes and the amount of caregivers there are. I am going to challenge myself to make 12 cards to drop off at the nursing home in Wolfville and hopefully let someone know just how much what they do is appreciated.

On a personal note, we have both our daughters coming home this weekend and our soon to be son in law. We are so excited to have them all home and are looking forward to the next couple of weeks in anticipation for the big day on Oct 11th.

on the 17th of August, Paul and I were married. We have had such a blessed life..2 wonderful daughters who we are so proud of and a truly happy life together. What more can a girl ask for!!!

And in less than 2 months we will be celebrating as our oldest daughter gets married and begins her new life.

We have been trying to get the exterior of our house painted and finally finished last night. Hopefully, this will allow a bit more play time for me in my happy place!!

Hmmmm...not so sure

if I would still be able to post as it's been such a long time!!! I can honestly say, consistancy has never been my strong suit!!!!!

My friend Shirley had one of these neat bags for ribbon and of course I thought "hmmm..I can make one of those" So off to Walmart to find a cheap clear bag and lo and behold Dora was on clearance for $4. My cousin's daughter was thrilled to get the goodies from the bag and I was thrilled to get the bag!!! I know,I know, some of you who have seen the way I use to wrap all my ribbon are thinking I'm nuts but it is organized and I don't have to use tape or pins on the ends AND it easy to transport. Have a happy Thursday...

These are the cards I attempted

to post on Monday. I had to restart the computer to get it to read my camera!! My printer is also giving me a hard time. I think I have to take my hard drive into Staples for some TLC but I really don't like being without it!!!!

Obviously the theme for today is "Thinking of You". I'm sure I sure I didn't start the day with this intention, but one never knows just what's gonna come out of this
mind!!!!

As you can tell, I LOVE this line of paper from Cosmo Cricket and was trying to use a whole sheet, unsuccessfully, I might add, but it was fun trying!!

I saw this idea on Splitcoast a while ago and finally made one. Just do a search on the site and you are sure to find this idea. I will warn you, although it is mostly a Stampin Up site there are a TON of ideas there.

I just used coasters as my base and, OH LOOK..., I used that same line of Cosmo Cricket paper.

I didn't use anything to prep the coaster and just used a glue stick to adhere my pp and if you own a *crop a dial*, it punches thru the coaster like butter.

Have a great day and thank you for taking the time to look at my blog!!!

Monday, January 28, 2008

Not so sure I should be posting today....

hmm..tried earlier to upload new cards and the computer would not read my camera or card. That's okay cause I have a recipe card to show you..damn the power goes off and I lose the whole post..Sometimes it just not meant to be.

So let me try it once more...

This really is the easiest and yummiest bean recipe you have ever had. I would like to claim it as my own but my friend Shirley is the one who introduced it to me.

Have a happy Monday...

What a surprise....

it's snowing again!!!!!
I didn't get anything done this weekend but I have had a couple people ask about my new studio, so.....I took some pics this morning to show you. No, I did not clean up anything, so what you see is what you see!!!!!

So when you first come in my room, I have my computer in an armoire, which is suppose to close, but rarely do those doors close!!!!

These are my paper racks and different storage containers. I am slowly getting the drawers organized and labelled in hopes it will help me keep a tidy area (Yeah, right!!!!)

There is a 6FT. garden door on the next wall with a small deck off it (not accessible from the ground) It has an amazing view but today it's just snow and more snow!!!!

This is where I store most of my mounted stamps. My scraps of paper are color sorted in the small drawers and I have punches, ribbon etc in the next one.

This is my worktable and it's probably the cleanest it's ever been!! Paul just put the shelf up for me last week to try to get some of the *stuff* of the table!!

When we moved into this house, this room was used as a master bedroom so it has a huge walk in closet!! I have put storage racks in there and promptly filled it with everything from pictures, magazines and even a corner with boxes of memories from the girl's childhood. Maybe I will get it organized at some point!!!

Well, I hope you enjoyed the *tour* of my space and yes, it can double as a guest room if needed!!!

Have a happy Monday..

Tuesday, January 15, 2008

UGGG...I don't like winter

but apparently you have to get use to it if you live in Nova Scotia!!! Oh well, the countdown is on, only 3 more months til spring!!!!

I did have the day off today and actually made a couple of cards. Wow..it's been a very long time since I've made one let along two!!!

The first one is based on a sketch from Heather's Blog

I used Imaginese pp and the stamp is from M's.

The second card is using the same pp, but it is two sided so it allows both sides to be seen. This is a tutorial at Leslie Miller

I had fun playing in my room today although the camera did not do the cards justice it was fun just to play.

I took a couple of hours and tried to get caught up on looking at some other blogs, thankfully not everyone took 3 months off so I had lots to look at.

Have a good one...

Monday, January 14, 2008

Gee.. the weekends

just go by sooo fast!!! Oh well, I just have to learn to make the best of them!!

I did work on a couple sample invitations for Jocelyn but I had best wait for her to see them before I show them to anyone else. We are hoping to get everything together for me to fly out to Calgary at the end of February to help her make the invitaions. I think she's just using this wedding as an excuse to finally get me to visit her!!!

I had an old magnet board I had gotten from goodness knows where and decided to cover it and use it for the little spice cans.

I am such a sucker for anything that I think will help me organize my space.

I finally got some clips for my version of the popular clip stand. I got a second made using a lazy susan as part of the base so I can spin it around. I just set the first one I made on an old turntable so I can also spin that one. It makes it so much easier than trying to see all around it. I couldn't find the clips locally so I ended up ordering thru Joanne's and had them sent to my cousin in Texas. Kinda the long away around to get them but it worked!!!

The second stand looks so much larger but it's not. If you look closely, the stamps hanging on it are the little See D's stamps. They are so inexpensive and such a great value. We have some at work and the rest I got at Coldbrook mall.

Have a happy Monday and here's hoping we don't get too much snow!!!!!!

Monday, January 7, 2008

Hello,Hello...

anyone out there. WOW... it's been awhile. Hmm.. our oldest daughter could tell you as she's been sending me weekly reminders to get my butt in gear and start posting again.

Well, I would have to say we are officially settled into our new home!! We got to host Christmas Eve here and it truly felt like home with our family and friends here. My studio ( do you like that word Lisa?) is at about 98% and will probably never get beyond that.

I haven't made a card in so long I'm not so sure I remember how!!!! Yes, that means I gave out store bought cards this year, although I did include a family newsletter to let everyone know what was happening in our busy lives.

This included the news that our oldest daughter Jocelyn is marrying her sweetheart Mike on Oct 11th, 2008. Yep, that's in 9 months but Joc is so well orgainzed, so I have no worries.

I did get a new cool tool for Christmas from Paul, I have hooked it up and tried a couple of cuts with it.

It is a digital cutting machine that uses the fonts and dingbats from your computer to diecut letters etc. from 1/4 to 9 inches. I am looking forward to playing with it more and possibly even getting some more scrapbook pages done!!

Well, hopefully I can get back into the groove and start posting more often.

Have a happy Monday

OH Boy....

Here we go again. I hope to be back to a semi routine in a couple of weeks. We are in the process of moving and I am involved with a course at work that takes me out of the province every couple of weeks for a bit. I have sooooooooooooo missed looking at everyone's blog and look forward to getting back at it!!!!

This is from the 52 Card Pickup Class. This was using different techniques with buttons. Well..as life would have it, my buttons were packed away in the first move and are in storage, so I used acrylic clear circles from my stash and just poked holes in them to make them look like buttons!!!
Take care....

I am so proud

Of our daughters!!! Our oldest dd Jocelyn, who lives in Calgary, is running in the Run For The Cure this Sunday. She set an amount of 500.00 as her personal goal to raise this year. Well...not only did she raise that but surpassed it by an additional $1000.00 for a total of $1500.00 to go towards Breast Cancer Research. Way to go Jocelyn, this card is for you honey.

This was done with Chatterbox PP, bazzill, ribbon from stash, Hope stamp from Prairie Rubberstamps . It is a Canadian company that sells unmounteds. The ribbon is from an ad for a local stationary store. Both of these cards were made with Di Hickmans's sketch She is going to think I'm stalking her!!!!!

I thought I'd better get at least a start on my Christmas cards!! Again I used Chatterbox and bazzill as my base. Ribbon is DCWV Holly Jolly. I love this ribbon as it is self adhesive. The snowflakes came from a bag I purchased when the lss closed.

Yesterday, we had a birthday party

for a dear friend who turned 50. There must have been 100 people at the pot luck!! This is her with her cake. She said she needed a tiara, so we took the beads from one of the beautiful centerpieces for her.

Now, how is that for a cake!! The same cousin who made the cake also does flower arranging and graced the tables with these gorgeous dahlias

Although I missed our regular stamping day yesterday, I did manage to get a card completed. It is from Di Hickman'swebsite. I know, I know..what a surprise, but I just find her sketches so easy to work with.

My pp is Chatterbox. I love this paper and dread the day I completly run out!! Hero Arts stamp and the scallop paper is made with my corner punch. The flower is from my stash and the biggie brad is from Heidi Swapp.

I saw a project a while ago

on Rocky Mountain Hobbies They were doing the class as a cybercrop and they had many great projects. I kept this one in the back of my head as I did not have the supplies at the time. My biggest dilemma has been trying to figure out what to use for clips that wouldn't break the bank. I was at a yardsale one Sunday morning and found a whole bag of curtain clips for .25. I wasn't sure if these were my answer but I couldn't pass them up!!

I used elecrical ties to put them into place on the lampshade ring. One to have the clip going in the direction I wanted and the other to hold it on the ring. Now, I will tell you if you have problems with your hands this is not the clip for you as they are stiff to open. I am still on the lookout for different clips that are easier to use if anyone has a suggestion.

This one has 3 tiers as I had an oddball shade that I could turn upside down and place on the top. I also have not painted this yet as we have purchased a house (instead of building) and I am not sure what colour to paint it, but I do know it will look good in my new room and be practical also!! If you check out the Rocky Mountain Class they will show you just what you need to make your own Spinner Rack. And trust me, once you get digging, you do have enough packages to fill at least one of these!!!

Do you remember in May

when I posted about the class I was taking thru Big Picture Scrapbooking

Well, the class is over now and I am not done all my pages yet but I thought I'd post a couple of them. The idea of the class was to inspire us to try different techniques and ideas. As expected, Tena Sprenger was an awesome instructor and I am looking forward to meeting her again at Scrapgala in November.

This first one was using a resist technique with paint. I just love this idea and have used it often.

The next is using pp to layer. I used a photo with mine also. These are all 5x7 cards that are intended to inspire us to try something new when we go to create. I will try to post a couple of more later.

It's time to get back

to reality...We have been on vacation and loving every minute of it. BUT.....I guess it has to end at some point and today's the day. I have been creating some but just have not been home long enough to post. I will try to get back into the habit but life often gets in the way.

The first 2 cards I am posting are both from Di Hickman. The first one is way late!!! For this one I used American Crafts pp (Play) bazzill cs, mm Cajun ribbon, M's $1 stamp, Marvy scallop circle punch and 1/4" punch for circles.

For this one I choose BG Infuse pp along with a very pretty Daisy Vine embossed paper. The ricrack is from AMM (Wheat grass) and the stamp from HA's.

As usual Di has a great sketch to try!!

Well...hi ho hi ho it's off to work I go.....
